many copies of this program and its support files as you wish.

THIS PROGRAM WILL WORK IN BOTH THE MEDIUM AND HIGH RESOLUTION
GRAPHICS MODE!

Introduction:

Something has gone very wrong with your sense of reality.
Suddenly, everything you've ever known has become bizarrely
corrupted. You notice a remarkable resemblance to your pet kitty
that the tiger, that wants to rip your face off, bears. Also, you
are struck with the stunning similarity to your friends and family
that the swarms of money grubbing insectoids, that wish to suck
your lifes blood, hold. In addition, you notice that your own
appearance has changed. Close inspection reveals a lack of fine
details in all of you features. You notice that you lack
fingerprints, and even fingernails for that matter. In your left
hand you bear a large shield of a rather lusterless metal. In
your right hand, you wield a sword of pure black iron. When you
brandish the sword, you find that a volley of bolts issue forth
from its tip. In addition to the peculiar objects that you see,
there is a thought which dominates your mind: You must find a way
out of here.

As with all mazes, the object of MegaMaze is to find your way
out. However, in MegaMaze there are a number of objects designed
to prevent you from doing so. On the other hand, a few objects
will help you meet you objective. Here is a breakdown of what you
might encounter:

Monsters: A unique combination of speed, strength, and
missile capabilities determines a type of monster. In addition,
each monster may be able to absorb between 1 and 8 hits before
dying.

Missiles: These do 1 hit point of damage to any living thing
they hit.

Money: Take money to earn free points.

Explosives: These do from 1 to 3 hit points of damage.

     Keys: Needed to open doors.

Doors: Can only be opened if you own the correct key.

Door openers: Stepping on a door opener opens adjacent doors
of a special type.

Missile launchers: These shoot missiles at a regular
interval.

Monster generators: These create monsters at a regular
interval.

Scrolls: These freeze all monsters in place for a short
time.

First aid: These objects restore lost health in increments
of 1, 4, 9, or 16 depending in type.

Haste potion: Increases movement rate by 1/3 for a short
period.

Slow potion: Decreases movement rate by 2/3 for a short
period.

Stop sign: Prevents movement for a short period.

There are two types of attacks that you may use to kill the
monsters. The first is by launching missiles by pressing the fire
button. The second method of attack is the melee. To melee,
simply run into the monster without pressing the fire button.
Missiles do one point of damage each, and a melee does three
points of damage per movement round.

I hope you enjoy this product of my deranged imagination. It
was a project designed to keep me from thinking about school
during spring break. I must say that it succeeded so well that
well into the second week of the term I am still not thinking
about school.
If you enjoy this program, I ask that you please send me
$5.00 in way of remuneration. This will enable me to continue
going to school and, at the same time, continue programming. If
you don't like MegaMaze, I ask that you not send me hate mail,
letter bombs, or custom tailored viruses. At any rate, I would
appreciate ideas for original games that I might be able to
implement on the Atari ST. My interest is in games that will work
well in both color and monochrome modes. I look forward to
hearing from you.
