Frenetic - Manual

The Story

In the early part of the 23rd century, the world's top scientists gather
to discuss further their theory on the probability of life beyond the
edge of the known universe.

The time scale is now critical, life on earth will have to be relocated.
This is due to the inevitable breakdown of the earth's shield after two
centuries of continual attack by fighters from the planet "MOZONE".

A scouting party has been sent to permeate their defences and reach the
outer-most point of the mapped galaxy. From there they must go further
than any ship has dared venture before. Your aim is simple - Make a safe
passage for the earth's mother ship to proceed to a new galaxy and a new
beginning.

Game Play

FRENETIC is played in eight space worlds, each with their own unique
theme and a monstrous "End of Level" MOZONE warship which will require
all of your skill and fire power to defeat.

To assist you in your quest you can increase your fire power by
collecting various bolt-on weapons with varying capabilities.

FRENETIC may be played by two people simultaneously, doubling the amount
of fire power on screen.

The Controls

All of the movements in FRENETIC are controlled by a joystick.

One Player Game

Use a joystick in Port 1.

Two Player Game

    Player 1 - as above
    Player 2 - Use a joystick in port 0.

Other Keys

    ESC - Quit
    P - Pause On/Off

To start the game as a two player game, press fire on the second joystick.

Player two can join in the game at any time by pressing the fire button
on the second joystick.

The Weapons

 - Power-Up Forward Green laser
 - Forward Spray
 - Forward Cannon
 - Side Laser
 - Side Pop
 - Back Pop
 - Back Missile

Note
The Side Laser and Side Pop can be connected to either side of your ship
depending on which direction you approach it from.

Each weapon can be powered up to a maximum of three times. If you have
already collected a weapon, for example the Forward Cannon, the next
time it is collected the fire power will be increased. If it is
collected a third time the fire power will be increased further.
Collecting the same weapon again will not have any effect other than to
give bonus points.

Bonuses

 - Shield
 - Mystery Bonus Lives (these are hidden around the levels)
 - Drag Factor (this makes your add-on weapons remain away from you
rather than returning to the center of your ship)
 - Speed Up
 - Slow Down

Shooting certain aliens releases weapons bonuses which can be collected.
When your shield is active, you are able to pass through solids without
being affected by either alien ships or bullets. Without a shield, be
careful not to get crushed by solid objects as the scroll down the
screen.

A Bonus Life is awarded every 100,000 points.
