ProFlight Version 1.1

=====================

Welcome To ProFlight! Please be
careful to fill in your registration
card and send it back to HiSoft.
Without this, you will not be
entitled to technical support or
upgrades. We will be upgrading
ProFlight at fairly regular intervals
and we will keep registered users
informed of these changes and
offer them the latest version
at a low cost.

This is the README.TXT file mentioned
in the Welcome to ProFlight chapter of
the manual. It contains any information
concerning late additions and changes
to the ProFlight program that were not,
or could not be, documented in the
manual.

When ProFlight was conceived, the
primary aim was to provide accuracy
of simulation so that everybody could
experience the excitement and relative
ease of flying a real Tornado. To this
end it was decided to use the mouse as
the main stick control because a mouse
responds proportionally to movement,
just like a real aircraft stick, and
unlike most computer joysticks which
are digital devices.

However, it seems that many users want
the option of mouse or joystick control,
so we have added joystick support in
this release. To use your joystick,
connect it to the Joystick 1 port (the
one with just a joystick icon next to
it) and connect the mouse to Joystick
port 0 (the one with a mouse and a
joystick icon next to it).

Move the joystick left/right to roll
left/right or move it up/down to
pitch down/up. In order to yaw left
or right, using the rudder bar, you
must use the mouse buttons (left
button to yaw left, right button to
yaw right).

If moving your joystick left causes
the aircraft to roll right, select
option F1:F1:F8 which inverts the
action of the joystick.

You can disable the mouse (apart
from the buttons) by selecting
F1:F1:F7; repeat this combination
to re-enable the mouse.

Remember that, particularly when
using the joystick, it is often useful
to select the Bank and Pitch stabiliser
(F1:F3:F6 and F1:F3:F7) as this makes
it easier to centre the controls.
It is also a good idea to experiment
with the control sensitivity
using KEY ; and KEY '.

The aircraft will fly much
more accurately and easily using the
mouse; the joystick support is there
purely for your convenience and we do
not recommend its use if you want
to experience how a real Tornado flies.

If you interrupt the demonstration
mode, you may find that the aircraft
starts to fly in a tight circle, from
which it is impossible to regain
control - the solution is to turn off
the auto-pilot (F1:F3:F1).

We hope that you enjoy flying with
ProFlight.
